Five High-Capacity Furnaces
Our five-acre facility features furnaces and support equipment capable of handling a variety of large, complex steel fabrications and vessels.
Furnace 1
Unique for its size at 82 ft (25.0 m) long by 21.5 ft (6.6 m) wide by 23 ft (7.0 m) high, Furnace 1 is the largest ‘car-bottom design’ furnace at our facility and among the largest furnaces in North America.
Capable of generating temperatures up to 2000°F with a total load capacity of 400 tons, Furnace 1 is used for a wide range of heat-treating processes. With guillotine-style doors on each end, we are able to treat loads longer than the 82 foot length of the furnace by processing components in two stages. Additionally, the two furnace car design provides greater efficiencies by allowing one load to be in the furnace, while the other is being unloaded and reloaded with the next heat-treating job. Coupled with Furnace 1 is a 100-ton crane, allowing extremely large loads to be quickly loaded or unloaded or manoeuvred into our 40,000 gallon water quench tank.
Furnace 2
The highest temperature furnace at our facility, Furnace 2 generates temperatures up to up to 2250°F.
Measuring 26 ft (7.9 m) long by 12 ft (3.7 m) wide by 10 ft (3.0 m) high, this car-bottom style furnace accommodates small to medium-sized components with a total load capacity of 75 tons. Coupled with this furnace are two 26,000 gallon tanks for quench and temper processes. One tank contains a polymer solution that mimics traditional oil quenching and the other contains water. Each quench tank is temperature controlled, mechanically agitated, and sized to accommodate a full furnace load. This ensures a highly uniform quench regardless of the size or geometry of the part being treated.
Furnace 3
Measuring 21.5 ft (6.6 m) long by 8 ft (2.4 m) wide by 5 ft (1.5 m) high, this car-bottom unit is specifically sized to accommodate small to medium-sized components.
Furnace 3 can generate temperatures up to 1900°F with a load capacity of 25 tons for a wide range of heat-treating applications. Coupled with this furnace is a 4,500 gallon quench tank that is temperature-controlled and mechanically agitated to create a highly-uniform quench environment.
Furnace 4
This furnace measures 70 ft (21.3 m) long by 8 ft (2.4 m) wide by 9 ft (2.7 m) high. Different from our car-bottom units, the furnace chamber itself moves while the hearth remains stationary.
This design gives Furnace #4 a very high weight capacity of 440 tons, making it ideal for heat treating longer or heavier items like foundry castings, piping, beams, and structural components. Furnace #4 operates at a maximum temperature of 1800°F.
Furnace 5
At 14.5 ft (4.4 m) long by 7.5 ft (2.3 m) wide by 7.5 ft (2.3 m) high, this furnace is a "top-hat" design where the furnace chamber is lifted on and off 2 stationary hearths using our new 30-ton overhead crane.
This furnace has a load capacity of 100 tons, making it well-suited for smaller products. It is capable of reaching a maximum temperature of 1900°F.
